I believe most Bloggers know Meta Tags are made for Search Engines. Lots verity of Meta Tags around WWW, but Keyword and Description are Tags we generally use for Better search Result. If you hit your Blog Domain in Google Search, Search comes up with Title and Description. I tried hitting Chidimar in Google and what I get is same as my Meta Description (As in following image).
Same I did with “intertwingly”, This time result is pretty strange, even on using meta Description my search results description was different (As in Following Image).
Are you too facing this problem?
How to Avoid this:
Make your Description pretty explanatory, so that google won’t ignore it. Else you need to enter the Meta Dungeon. basically that description stuff is taken from Open Directory project and yahoo Directory. All you have to do is restrict the robot. Just add the following meta tag in your blog’s header.php.
<meta name=”googlebot” content=”NOODP”>
The Above Tag works for only google Bot. for other bots use
<meta name=”robots” content=”NOODP”>
Okay then..

I dont think that Google ignores the meta tags, Yes i agree that it ignores the keyword tag, but i always take keywords from Description tags.
I am not listed at ODP. so no need of of NOODP tag
