Recently Jannith wrote a wonderfull post on Blogussion about 7 Reasons why You should Blog with a Partner. Those were really wonderful points that can motivate any blogger to have a Parnter to share a helping hand. But.. Just like everything else, Their are Advantages and then their are Disadvantage to everything.
Well, I’m not really against Janith’s Post.. but just want to show you the other part. Let’s start with..
Discouragement:
Partner 1: Hey, this widget looks cool on the sidebar ?|
Partner 2: Naa.. forget it ! It’s giving an unprofessional look .. :s
I think, I made my point clear !
Revenue Sharing:
Now, thats kinda big deal you are going to have with yourself. Nobody wants to share what he earns.. (atleast not me ! xD ). Its your Blog, the revenue remains between You and Your Pocket !
Communication:
Now you received a Guest Post and you want to approve it, or maybe an ad for advertisement or maybe just like you want to write a post on something.. Obviously you don’t want anything to be done unless your fellow knows it or like you dont want to do something he won’t like.
So, you have to wait until you can make a contact, you don’t know when he’s going to come online and a big problem can be the different timezones. Though, as Janith told Alex and he has difference of 14 hours that help in management of Blog, replying to comments, etc. But this point is also to be considered.
I’m the God:
Do whtever you want to.. start spamming around.. Close your Blog, change the language.. change your template’s colors to red and yellow. There’s nobody who is going to point you out.. There’s nobody to take permission from..
Yes, ofcourse you’ll not do anything that can harm your Blog’s reputation. Buh still, why blog with boundaries.. Atleast, your mind is free and you can easily say “Yup, It’s my Blog !” instead of “Its our Blog !”
Security:
Can you really trust the Guy you haven’t seen and neither you will ? Can you give him administrator privileges ? Are you sure he isn’t stealing your ideas? your stuff ?
Yeah, this doesn’t imply if your blogging partner is your live friend too !
Okay now,
There’s no Point 6.
Here I finish the article by saying that.. “ah okay I can’t judge it myself” ’cause I’m myself blogging with a Partner. Though issues like Point no. 3 “Communication” occur. Its not your turn, what do ya say? Vote below and mention with your comment which one did u select and why ? Let’s have some gossip around.
And if you really come up with some cool points to add to the post, feel free to share. I’ll update the post with your suggestion and name.

I voted for blogging with partner. Even though I agree with all of it but I have my reasons
my partner is my bro so things are pretty cool between us.

I agree with this post somewhat. I actually run a web hosting company with a friend and we have arguments about stuff like that all the time..
Regardless, I still think it’s important to have partners. It makes the load easier. As for blogging though, I think it should mainly be only one persons blog but it’s always good to have help.

I was just showing the other face of the coin.. everybody has different issues. You are cool because your partner is your bro..
but Caden Grant (Commentator below you) is not happy because he has had arguments with this blogging partner who is his friend.
Caden Grant Yeah, I too agree if your blogging partner is active. It makes life easier.

Cool post here Enk!
I think mine and Janith’s partnership has worked out pretty well so far. He has been incredibly inactive for such a long which puts all of the work on me, which is something I’m not used to since we usually split the work in half!
You should have added something like that to the list.

@ Alex Yup right.. you guys work pretty well. About the point of one partner being idle or something. I guess the point “Communication” explains that well. And same is for me too..
(no offense Abhishek)

Personally I prefer running a blog on my own. If I ever need to go away leaving the blog inactive, I could always either inform my readers of this or get some guest posters in.
That said, it is great to have two people working on a project because you can feel more motivated.

Going idle is completely different thing here Simon. Yup guest posters do great in kinda situation.
About getting motivated due to partner, there’s also discouragement.

Partnership works pretty well when it comes to sharing the burden etc, and about revenue sharing well I think the ratio of earnings also increases with partners I mean you will probably post once a day even that is maximum, but with a one two partners the post ratio and doing other related tasks increases and everything can be worked our smoothly if you know your partner in person.

Dude, your point is really true. But if the rest of the points are in action like discouragement, inactivity, or communication. For sure the revenue sharing is going to effect.
1. When all rest are in action, a done less revenue.
2. When your partner is really inactive or not serious. Would you like to give him the share of the hard work you did for blogging ?

I wouldn’t mind a blogging partner if I ran a professional blog, but it would have to be someone I trust totally, and I don’t know many people I could say that I trust to not lose their cool and delete everything in a fit of anger.
Plus, I prefer to do things myself. At least when something goes wrong, I know who to blame.

I think blogging with a partner has a good and bad side
Good: You both are blogging together and can promote your own website
bad: The two people will probably never meet in life and blog could easily get stolen by either person
I personally feel blogging with a partner is called being LAZY. that’s just my opinion
Great post!

Having a blogging partner can be a good thing only if you can get along with that person and the guy (or girl) is really interested in helping your blog move forward. Otherwise…

I agree with your point of view that there are some advantage and disadvantage of share blogging. But it all depend on the partners. If they have good understanding so i think there should not be any problem. But your reason is quite expressive.

Personally I prefer to dictate my sites and therefore it’s merely impossible to get a partner. Instead of having partners I prefer to hire people to write for me.

There actually is a great method to share the revenue. By showing your own ads on every post you write the author will get all the revenue instead of sharing it. The problem is on the firstpage and categories then, but you can solve this by using this money to pay for hosting and create monthly contests with the rest.
The single reason to why I am not blogging with a partner is because one of us will always deliver less content and because of this I prefer to hire someone to get paid for every article they contribute instead.
