Before going ahead to see the Awesome 404 Page Customizations Web Masters made. I’d like to give you a brief info about:
What is 404 – Page?
The 404 or Not Found error message is a HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server but either the server could not find what was requested, or it was configured not to fulfill the request and did not reveal the reason why. 404 errors should not be confused with “server not found” or similar errors, in which a connection to the destination server could not be made at all. - Wikipedia
In simple, 404 Page is a redirected page for the non-existent or moved pages. Its like when you click a link on webpage which doesnot exist or is moved, 404-page is loaded. - Chidimar

I tried to do a witty 404 page like this but for some reason my WordPress install doesn’t seem to want to co-operate with 404 pages.
My 404 errors are rendered fine in Firefox, but both IE and Google Chrome renders only half of the page, which causes it to display the source code. It’s really weird. Any ideas?

Seems like you are using 404 Page Plugin.. Try making your own one.
Its showing source code to me in Firefox too. Must be invalid html nesting ?
Maybe its because the
tag is closed without opening it, at the end of the code.I’ll be writing a descriptive Post on 404 Error Page and how to customize it soon. Stay in touch for the read!

I started using the plugin because my error pages weren’t displaying properly, in a hope that it would fix itself. Obviously something is wrong. Maybe it’s something to do with my host or WordPress settings? Both with or without the plugin it shows half a page and I don’t really know why. I’ll wait for your post and I’ll try creating my own plugin.

Awesome stuff man, really interesting stuff!
Do you think it is more useful to have a creative 404 page like the ones you showcased, or ones with a lot of information on them?

Thanks.. Really nice to see you here.
It depends on the owner of the website/blog. Some really good ones with Ks of loyal visitors have 404 page like this because they know there reader isn’t going to go anywhere else, but come back.
On the other hand, its good to have useful and necessary links on the page.
Just after this post, I designed my 404 Page with Custom Page Template and Sidebar. You can check it out and comment.
